Food & Beverage Industry - CIP Process and Cost improvements

The Business

A large Dairy & Beverage processing plant in Jeddah Saudi Arabia

The problem

The client was expanding and increasing production and was used to a particular CIP cleaning regime which caused a bottle neck in their production process. There main issues were:

  1. Prolonged cleaning cycle times.
  2. High Water consumption which also resulted in proportional chemical consumption.
  3. High Energy costs related to long heating and cool down periods for the whole system.

The solution

The Reza Hygiene technical representative from the Food & Beverage Division performed an audit of the CIP (Cleaning In Place) process of their dairy processing and filling line. Using latest chemical technology and an improved CIP process, we implemented trials that would:

  1. Reduce CIP cleaning cycles, resulting in lower water & chemical consumption.
  2. Reduce energy costs (with steam) by washing at lower temperatures and applying cold disinfection methods instead of hot water cycles.

The Result

The customer was extremely happy as he achieved:

  1. More profits through less cleaning time giving improved productivity.
  2. Cost reductions in water and energy consumption.
  3. Less effluent waste to be treated.
  4. Excellent results.
